where were you this evening between 6-7? if you were cooped up at home in front of the tv, then you'd just missed a great evening. at least from where i was.

the rain ceased at 5, giving time for the rainwater to dry up enough, leaving behind a cool atmosphere. damp. moist. dew on flowers. as i sat on the garden chair, rocking myself ever so slowly, the delicate breeze blew across my face, prickling my senses. i felt refreshed. a flock of birds, milky white clouds, the slight rustle of trees. it was not too bright, yet dark enough for me to stare at the sky for hours on end.

back and forth i went, back-and-forth. i wanted to get up and put on some classical music to suit the mood, but then i thought, the gurgling of the water in the water fountain was enough. like a gentle lullaby playing sweetly in my ears, i felt at peace with the world. i was reminded of the times when i was younger, when i would sit on the garden steps back at my old house every evening, without fail, and play with my bunny or my tortoise. such sweet recollections of the past, when i was much more trusting, and where the world seemed much more innocent.

i thought about many things, and my stand and involvement in them. in the hour or so, i sorted out stuff that had been stuck in my head for days. things that confused me or puzzled me, things that angered me or pleased me. i figured them all out. as darkness slowly but surely engulfed me, coincidentally, the switch to the living room lights jammed. so my dad flickered on the switch to the chandeliers, and the walls soon reflected the light which bounced off the crystals, split into a thousand and one little pockets of luminescence.

night, and i was ready to face the world all over again.
